Title: from sally collopy - vermont local roads

Hi everyone,

Its Sally again in Vermont. On the same subject of workshops and contracts, etc. I remember a while back that Toni Rosenbaum (I think) sent out a question asking about scheduling workshops and estimating attendance.

Weve started our fall schedule and our first workshops are Chainsaws, Front End Loaders, Gravel Roads and Creating Budgets. All of these workshops filled right up and weve had to schedule an extra session for each topic.

Every year we think about how we can better estimate the need for a particular subject. Should we schedule 2 (our normal practice) and offer a third if needed?  Should we schedule 3 and cancel one if attendance is low? Should we query certain municipalities or state agencies where attendance is generally high and ask about their anticipated attendance on the workshops planned?

Does anyone have a practice they follow or a formula they use to help anticipate your clients needs?

Thanks for any helpful suggestions you may have to offer.  Have a great day!

Very best,

Sally
