GUIDELINES FOR REMOVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES IN RURAL AREAS
-> http://trb.org/news/blurb_detail.asp?id=6335

The Iowa Department of Transportation has released a report that examines
the safety performance of stop-controlled versus uncontrolled intersections
at ultra-low-volume unpaved roads. The report also explores criteria to
assess the use of stop control and analyzes the effects of extensive versus
lesser use of STOP signs. In addition, the study reviews the legal
implications of removing STOP signs and offers guidance for the removal of
unneeded control.

STORAGE EFFECTS AT CULVERTS
-> http://trb.org/news/blurb_detail.asp?id=6333

The Kansas Department of Transportation has released a report that examines
new methods for quickly estimating the effects of detention storage on the
performance of existing culverts and the sizing of new culverts. According
to the report, these methods, which do not require hydrograph routing, are
applicable to pipe and box culverts operating under inlet control with no
overtopping of the roadway.
