RE: street signs

Title: Message
Jim,
All of this is found in MUTCD Section 2D.38 as linked here:
http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/HTM/2003r1/html-index.htm
Unless NH has legally adopted the MUTCD, the size is really a recommendation and not a requirement.  You'll read that they SHOULD be at least 6 inch letters and, on multi lane roads over 40 mph, they should be 8 in letters.  But for local streets of 25 mph or less, they MAY be 4 in. letters.

Subject: street signs

Can anyone tell me if the regulations have changed regarding street signs and speed limits. We are about to redesign our City street signs and it used to be anything under 35mph you could still use 4” letters and 6” blanks over 35mph was 6” letters and 9” blanks. Any change in MUTCD?
